New Jersey residents may seek back child support

New Jersey residents may be interested to know that one of the biggest stars who ever worked as a Harlem Globetrotter is being sued by his ex-wife and son. The suit says that Meadowlark Lemon owes his ex-wife $250,000 in back child support. Lemon and his ex-wife divorced in 1977 after 22 years of marriage.

Lemon says his ex-wife was a good wife. However, as for his son wanting the money allegedly due, Lemon says that his 48-year-old son should get a job. Lemon has played in more than 16,000 Globe Trotter games worldwide and is a master at the comical trick shots that make the team so famous.

His ex-wife claims that when they divorced, Lemon left her with a mountain of debt. He was ordered to pay $2,500 per month in child support but only paid that for just over one year. Her son blames the lack of financial support for his not earning a high school diploma and his arrest for forgery when he was 21 years old. The son recognizes that his dad is in the Hall of Fame but feels that his negligence with paying the child support was detrimental to his welfare.

Lemon says that he does not know why child support has become an issue for court at this time since his son is well past the age limit for a minor. When a parent must make ends meet without the proper financial support, the children often suffer the consequences. Those who wish to pursue obtaining the funds may wish to speak to a New Jersey attorney can help file a suit against the paying parent for funds due.
